Ford GT40 and Ford GT
The Le Mans challenger that defeated Ferrari.
History and development
The GT40 was Ford’s response to European endurance-racing dominance. In 1966 Ford captured the top three positions at Le Mans; the program went on to win the famous race in 1967, 1968 and 1969.
The GT40 Mk I, Mk II and Mk IV differed significantly. The road-going Ford GT of 2005–2006 celebrated that legacy, while the 2017–2022 GT introduced a carbon-fiber structure and turbocharged V6.
