Ford Performance
From family V8 sedans to championship-winning sports cars.
History and development
Ford’s performance heritage extends well beyond the Mustang. Large sedans such as the Galaxie, intermediate models like the Fairlane and Torino, and special drag-racing programs helped build the brand’s reputation. The GT40 and later Ford GT represent a separate, international endurance-racing tradition.
Famous milestones include the lightweight Fairlane Thunderbolt, the Torino Cobra and four consecutive Ford victories at Le Mans from 1966 through 1969.
