History and development

Introduced in 1953, the Corvette developed through eight generations from the original C1 roadster to the modern C8. Major milestones include the 1963 split-window Sting Ray, the big-block era, advanced C4 engineering and the C5’s all-new architecture.

The C8 introduced a mid-engine layout for the first time in a production Corvette. Performance variants such as Z06 and ZR1 have long demonstrated Chevrolet’s ambitions beyond the domestic market.
