History and development
Buick performance often combined substantial torque with a more restrained luxury-car identity. The GS and GSX represented the brand’s big-block muscle-car ambitions around 1970.
In the 1980s, turbocharged V6 models such as the blacked-out Grand National and limited GNX demonstrated a different path to serious straight-line performance.
