History and development

Ford created the original Boss 302 for Trans-Am racing and the Boss 429 as part of a NASCAR engine-homologation program. The 1971 Boss 351 combined a Cleveland-derived 351 V8 with distinctive Mustang styling.

The Boss name returned in 2012–2013 with the 5.0-liter Road Runner V8 and an optional Laguna Seca model designed for more demanding track use.
